DataFest 2022
The Third annual ASA DataFest at the University of Notre Dame hosted 7 teams with 26 student participants. This took place March 18 through March 20, 2022.
For this competition DataFesters were analyzing data donated by the Play2Prevent lab of the Yale School of Medicine. The data was player information about the Elm City Stories, a game created to help prevent negative health outcomes in young at-risk teens by increasing their perception of risk and acquiring healthy skills to prevent engaging in risky behavior. The data contained player logs for 166 middle school students. These logs recorded each event that the player performed in the game and the time the action was performed.
It was up to our competitors to help the researchers who created the Elm City Stories, to see if their game might be useful in understanding real-life behavior of the players, to identify and display patterns in play within the game and to identify characteristics of game play that might help researchers when creating future iterations of the game to help monitor real time usage and be used to help psychology researchers.
Grace, Joey, Lily and Colin getting very excited about the quiz game: "Battle of the Champions" held on Saturday afternoon.
